A sunny, breezy day met the SBA athletes on Thursday, May 5 in Miller at the Jimmy Rearick meet. Not everyone competed for the Crusaders due to the events at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls on May 6 & 7. The girls team won the team title with 101 points, outdistancing Highmore-Harrold and James Valley Christian, with 92 and 91 respectively. Kalli Quicke set a new school record in teh 100 meter dash with a 12.8 clocking; that also qualifies her for the state track meet in that event. She also won the long jump with a leap of 15' 8". Megan Burma won the 1600 run in 5:55.7, and the ladies also took 1st place in four relays - the 4x800, 4x200, 4x100, and 4x400 relays.
The boys finished 5th in the team race with 57 points. The foursome of Brian LaDue, Nathan Shay, Joel Pederson, and Jordan Hunt won the final event of the day, the 1600 relay. You may find results at the link below.
