Strong southerly winds met the track athletes at the Region 2B track meet in Gettysburg on Thursday, May 19. A number of outstanding performances were turned in by those in events on the straight-a-ways with the wind and in the horizontal jumps, while those run on the backstretch were adversely affected. On the SBA girls' side, the 4x800 relay qualified for the state meet with a second place finish. Members of that team were Renee Seaman, Victoria Paul, Lindsey Wilken, and Shariah Brockel. Brockel also advanced to state in the open 400, coming in second. The boys' 4x800 relay, which had already qualified for the state meet, took home a first place finish with team members Travis Hass, Denver Paul, Jace Burma, and Chris Hass. The 4x400 unit of Denver Paul, Willie Anderson, Travis Hass, and Chris Hass advanced with a second place performance. Joseph Lopez took second in the shot put with a throw of 43' 4 1/2", giving him a spot at the state meet. The medley relay, previously qualified, will also be entered at the state meet.
