Miller Booster Club Meet Results

The boys' track team qualified two more events for the state track and field meet on Tuesday, April 24 at the Miller Booster Club meet in Miller.  With temperatures in the mid 80s, Christian Svennes hit a qualifying standard in the 1600 run with a time of 4:41.1.  The medley relay team consisting of Chibueze Egeruoh, Titus Clark, Brady Brockel, and Cole McClain ran a time of 3:48.1 to get that event to state.  Results of the meet are linked below.  The next meet on the schedule for the track teams is Saturday, April 28 at the Ipswich Tiger Relays.  It looks like tougher weather is moving in, so we will do our best to keep you posted on the status of the meet.

Gettysburg Invitational Results

The SBA boys finished as runners-up at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, April 14. The 3200 relay team qualified for the state track meet with a time of 8:32.9. Members of that unit were Cole McClain, Brady Brockel, Titus Clark, and Christian Svennes. Other winners included Svennes winning the distance double in the 1600 and 3200 runs, Cole McClain in the 800, and the 1600 relay team consisting of McClain, DJ Beckwith, Brockel, and Clark. Kalli Quicke won the triple jump for the girls with a jump of 34' 3 1/2" and finished second in the long jump. The next meet for the Crusaders is on Thursday, April 19 in Kimball at the Kimball/White Lake Invitational. Results are linked below.

SBA Invitational Results

It was a sunny but cool day for the SBA Invitational in Huron on Tuesday, April 10. Kalli Quicke posted victories in the triple jump and long jump while the boys finished with wins in the 3200 and medley relays. Members of the 4x800 team were Cole McClain, Brady Brockel, Titus Clark, and Christian Svennes. The medley team consisted of DJ Beckwith, Clark, Brockel, and McClain. The next meet on the schedule is the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, April 14.

Central Dakota Meet Results

Kalli Quicke qualified two events, the long jump and triple jump, for the SBA girls on Thursday, April 5 at the Central Dakota meet in Miller. Quicke set a new school record of 16' 10"in the long jump and had a leap of 34' 1 3/4" in the triple jump. The boys won three relays at the meet. Cole McClain, Titus Clark, Brady Brockel, and Christian Svennes won the 3200 relay with a time of 8:44.5, just 4.4 seconds off a qualifying standard. The Medley unit consisting of Chibueze Egeruoh, Soo Jae Lee, Cole McClain, and DJ Beckwith won with a time of 4:09.2, and the 1600 relay team of McClain, Clark, Beckwith, and Brockel were victorious with a time of 3:46.5. Christian Svennes also won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.3. The Crusader track teams next compete at the SBA Invitational in Huron on Tuesday, April 10.

Patriot Invitational Results

The SBA track teams competed in Miller at the Patriot Inivitational on Friday, March 30, 2012. The weather cooperated and it was a great day for a track meet. On the boys' side the 3200 meter relay unit consisting of Cole McClain, Titus Clark, Christian Svennes, and DJ Beckwith was victorious. Cole McClain won the 800 meter run while Christian Svennes took the 3200 run. For the girls, Kalli Quicke took first place in the triple jump. The link below will take you to the meet results. State Track Meet Results - 2011

The SBA track teams had a successful state meet this past weekend in Sioux Falls, on May 27 & 28. Conditions were wet and fairly windy on Friday with highs in the upper 50s. Saturday was mostly sunny with a light southwesterly wind. The girls finished in a tie for 17th in the team standings with 16 points while the boys finished in a tie for 21st with 14 points. Kallie Quicke placed 2nd in the girls' long jump with a new school record leap of 16' 9" in the middle of a constant rain. She also placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.79 and 7th in the triple jump with a 32' 11" performance. Megan Burma set a new school record in the 3200 meter run with a 7th place time of 12:21.49. Megan also just missed a top 8 performance in the 1600 run on Saturday, placing 9th with a time of 5:37.74.

On the boys' side, the 3200 relay placed 3rd with a time of 8:38.28. Members of that unit were Cole McClain, Caleb Clark, Titus Clark, and Christian Svennes. Cole McClain placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:05.46, and the medley relay placed 5th on Saturday with a time of 3:51.69 in the final. Members of that unit were Chad Kruse, Caleb Clark, Christian Svennes, and Cole McClain. The medley team members that competed Friday to qualify for the finals were Chad Kruse, Laramie Strand, Caleb Clark, and Christian Svennes. They qualified with the sixth best time at 3:51.84. Christian Svennes also placed 9th in the 1600 run with a time of 4:40.7. Fully automatic timing was used in all running events. One notable feature of the results this year was the number of very close finishes for placing, and this included several of our athletes. It was an exciting meet.

State Track Meet Information - 2011

The links below will take you to information regarding the state track meet in Sioux Falls this Friday and Saturday, May 27 & 28. The team will arrive in Sioux Falls on Thursday around 3:30 for an afternoon practice and will be staying at the Days Inn on 41st Street, just west of the I-29 exit. We will plan on a Saturday meal/get-together for those who would like to join us; information will be forthcoming on that.

Region 3B Results

Several girls and boys qualified for the state track meet at the regional meet in Gettysburg on Thursday, May 19. The weather was cloudy, windy from the east at about 15-25 MPH with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, so conditions were less than ideal. The girls finished 4th as a team, scoring 102 points. The boys finished in 6th with 74 points. Two girls had winning performances in individual competition. Kalli Quicke won the long jump with a leap of 16' 1 1/2". Megan Burma finished first in the 3200 run with a time of 12:49.2. Other qualifying efforts included a second place finishes by the 4x800 relay, Sierra Stotz in the 100 meter dash, and Megan Burma in the 1600 run. The 4x800 team consisted of Megan Burma, Andrea Beckwith, Shanna Moreland, and Tricia Wilken.

On the boys side four events qualified with first place finishes in the 4x800 relay, Christian Svennes in the 1600 run, and Brian LaDue in the 3200 run. Cole McClain took 2nd place in the 800 meter run. In order to qualify for the state track meet, an individual or relay unit must place in the top two at the regional meet or hit a state meet qualifying standard at any sanctioned meet throughout the year. Below is a list of SBA qualifiers, followed by links to the results from the regional meet. We will keep you posted on the heat/lane/flight assignments for the state meet as well as schedule.

Howard Wood Dakota Relays Results - May 6 & 7, 2011

The track teams had great weather for the Dakota Relays at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls on May 6 and 7. Both girls and boys medley relay teams hit state meet qualifying standards on Saturday morning. The girls' foursome of Lynsey Nold, Sierra Stotz, Tricia Wilken, and Kalli Quicke took ninth with a time of 4:31.4. The boys took 6th with a time of 3:51.02 running Chad Kruse, Caleb Clark, Christian Svennes, and Cole McClain. The boys 4x800 team of Cole McClain, Caleb Clark, DJ Beckwith, and Christian Svennes took 5th with a time of 8:47.38. You may find results from the meet if you hit the link below. 2011 Howard Wood Dakota Relays Results

Jimmy Rearick Invitational Results

A sunny, breezy day met the SBA athletes on Thursday, May 5 in Miller at the Jimmy Rearick meet. Not everyone competed for the Crusaders due to the events at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls on May 6 & 7. The girls team won the team title with 101 points, outdistancing Highmore-Harrold and James Valley Christian, with 92 and 91 respectively. Kalli Quicke set a new school record in teh 100 meter dash with a 12.8 clocking; that also qualifies her for the state track meet in that event. She also won the long jump with a leap of 15' 8". Megan Burma won the 1600 run in 5:55.7, and the ladies also took 1st place in four relays - the 4x800, 4x200, 4x100, and 4x400 relays.

The boys finished 5th in the team race with 57 points. The foursome of Brian LaDue, Nathan Shay, Joel Pederson, and Jordan Hunt won the final event of the day, the 1600 relay. You may find results at the link below.

The junior high girls' and boys' teams competed on Monday, May 2 at the 281 Conference track meet in Wessington Springs.
