The state track meet schedule is linked below.  Note that the highlighted events in yellow will include SBA athletes and those in turquoise are finals, for which they may qualify on the second day.  The boys' medley relay is not set yet, so all six names that will be on the card are shown.

State Meet Schedule/Setup

Region 2B Results

The SBA track teams competed in Gettysburg on Thursday, May 22 at the region 2B meet.  The top two finishers in any event, plus any who hit state meet qualifying standards before or during the region meet, qualify for the state meet.  The SBA girls had two qualifiers in Tricia Wilken, who placed second in the 100 meter hurdles and Alexis Lane, a second place finisher in the 800 meter run.  The girls team finished 7th as a team with 44 points.

The boys finished 5th in a competitive team race with 87 points.  Three new state meet qualifiers were added on the day.  Seth Buer won the 100 meter dash, Cole Buer won the long jump, and Cody Buer placed 4th in the triple jump with a qualifying mark.  More information will be forthcoming regarding the state track meet.  The result link will take you to meet and team results.  Please note that the participants and relay order for the boys' 1600 medley is different from published results.  I made corrections for my copy.

Region 2B Schedule and Setup

The Region 2B track meet will be held in Gettysburg on Thursday, May 22 with field events starting at 10:30 and running events at 11:30.  A schedule with a setup of the athletes' events is linked below.

281 Conference Results

The SBA boys' and girls' teams had good success at the 281 Conference meet in Huron on Tuesday, May 13.  The boys won the team title with 158.33 points to 139 for second place James Valley Christian.  The girls took second with 125 points, finishing runner-up to champion James Valley.  The boys had two individuals hit standards to qualify for the state track meet.  Sam Clark won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.2 seconds while Stetson Erickson hit standard in the 110 hurdles, taking second with a time of 16.2.  In addition to Clark's win in the 100, Cody Buer won the triple jump and the 4x800 and 4x100 relays also took victories.  Members of the 4x800 team were Christopher Hass, Drew McClain, Jace Burma, and Kalabe Kassa.  The 4x100 unit consisted of Seth Buer, Cody Buer, Sam Clark, and Cody Buer.
The girls took a victory in the 4x100 relay with team members Cailey Banik, Cassie Beckwith, Anna Park, and Sarah Pedersen.  Below is a link to individual and team results.

281 Conference Setup

The link is to the schedule/setup for the 281 Conference track meet to be held on Tuesday, May 13 at Tiger Stadium in Huron.  It should be a bit windy but looks to be dry.  Hope to see you there.

Jimmy Rearick Warbird Invitational Results

The Jimmy Rearick Warbird Invitational was held on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Miller on a beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the low to mid 60s with little wind.  The boys won the team title with 99 points and qualified two more events for the state track meet.  The 4x100 team of Seth Buer, Cody Buer, Sam Clark, and Cole Buer placed second with a state meet qualifying time of 45.9.  Jaden Brockel placed third in the 800 meter run with a state meet qualifying time of 2:03.1.  Three of the top four half milers in class B competed in that event.  Cole Buer won the long jump with a performance of 18' 10 1/2".   On the girls' side, Cassie Beckwith won the shot put with a throw of 31' 2" and Tricia Wilken won the 300 meter hurdles.  Complete results are linked below.

Miller Invitational Results

The SBA track teams competed on Tuesday, May 6 at the Miller Invitational.  Weather conditions were conducive to good performances and the athletes took advantage.  The boys' 4x800 and 4x200 teams both hit state meet qualifying standards in winning performances.  The 4x800 unit consisted of Denver Paul, Brian LaDue, David Paul, and Jaden Brockel, and they ran a time of 8:40.8, bettering the standard by 1.8 seconds.  The 4x200 team members were Cody Buer, Seth Buer, Sam Clark, and Cole Buer.  They hit a mark of 1:35.1, which was 0.2 seconds better than the qualifying standard.  Cole Buer also made it to state in the high jump, making the qualifying height of 5' 10".

On the girls' side the 4x400 relay team took home a win with a time of 4:35.8.  Members of that unit were Tricia Wilken, Staci Seaman, Cassie Beckwith, and Samantha Rogers.  Tricia Wilken took a pair of runner-up finishes, in the 100 meter dash and 300 hurdles.  Complete results may be found by hitting the link below.  Please note that in the boys' shot put results, Joseph Lopez finished in the #21 position, not Jed Konechne as shown.

Dakota Relays and Ipswich Invitational Results

Results of the Dakota Relays at Howard Wood and the Ipswich Invitational are linked below.  The boys' team placed four relays at the Dakota Relays and qualified the medley relay for the state track meet.  Members of that unit were Sam Clark, Seth Buer, Brian LaDue, and Jaden Brockel.  Photos of those relay units are posted in Facebook at the SBA track page.  I have also posted links to results from the 281 Conference junior high meet held in Miller on Monday, May 5.  The Miller Invitational results will be posted soon.

Dakota Relays and Ipswich Invitational

The SBA boys will be splitting up for the weekend with ten individuals competing in Sioux Falls at the Dakota Relays at Howard Wood Field and the rest of the team competing in Ipswich at the Ipswich Invitational.  The girls will compete in Ipswich.

Kimball/White Lake Invitational Results

The SBA boys won the title at the Kimball/White Lake Invitational on a very windy day in Kimball on Thursday, April 24.  They scored 108 points in the eleven team event to 96 for runner-up Gregory.  The boys' 4x200 and medley relay units both took gold.  The 4x200 team consisted of Sam Clark, Cody Buer, Seth Buer, and Cole Buer.  The members of the medley team were Seth Buer, Cole Buer, Brian LaDue, and Jaden Brockel.  The girls placed sixth of eleven team with 47 points.  Tricia Wilken won an individual title in the 300 hurdles.  Complete results are linked below.

SBA Invitational Results

Windy, sunny, and cold conditions greeted the athletes for the SBA Invitational on Tuesday, April 15.  The boys team finished 3rd of 16 teams with 90.333 points while the girls finished 9th of 15 with 35.333 points.  Seth Buer was the lone individual champion by winning the boys' 100 meter dash with a time of 11.4 in the finals.  The link will take you to complete results.

Central Dakota Invitational Results

The SBA track teams competed on a beautiful day for a track meet on Friday, April 11 in Miller at the Central Dakota Invitational.  The boys took 1st of fourteen teams while the girls placed 9th of 14.  Individual event winners were Tricia Wilken in the 300 hurdles and Cole Buer in the boys' long jump.  The boys won victories in three relays.  The 4x800 team consisted of Jaden Brockel, Kalabe Kassa, Brian LaDue, and David Paul.  Members of the 4x200 unit were Sam Clark, Seth Buer, Cole Buer, and Stetson Erickson.  The medley team members were Joey Lane, Joseph Lopez, Cody Buer, and Jaden Brockel.

Central Dakota Invitational

Central Dakota Meet Setup 

State Track Meet - Day 1

The SBA boys scored 15 points on day 1 of the state track meet in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 24.  Highlighting the day was Brady Brockel's win in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.41.  The 4x800 team consisting of David Paul, Brady Brockel, Jaden Brockel, and DJ Beckwith placed 4th with a time of 8:44.96.  Brady Brockel qualified for the finals of the 400 meter dash with the fastest prelim time and new school record of 50.28.  The medley relay consisted of Connor Beeman, Soo Jae Lee, Nolan Hamilton, and DJ Beckwith and finished at 4:03.85.  Finishing out the first day was the 4x400 team consisting of DJ Beckwith, Nolan Hamilton, Soo Jae Lee, and Brady Brockel with a heat win and second fastest time overall, a time of 3:35.61.  The links below will take you to individual events on the SDPB web site.

State Track Meet Information

The links will take you to information regarding the state track meet in Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25.  The team will be staying at the Ramada off 12th Street on Thursday and Friday nights.  After the meet on Saturday we plan to have a get-together for any who would like to join us at a Pizza Ranch in Sioux Falls.  A link to the map is provided below; this Pizza Ranch is on 10th Street.  You may join us for the meal or come just for fellowship.  Look forward to seeing you there.  Also, we would like to get a picture of any SBA track alumni sometime on Saturday; we may take it in the area by the scoreboard, or possibly on the infield after the meet.  We will get more information out to you tomorrow.

Region 3B Results

Results are linked below for the Region 3B track meet in Gettysburg on Thursday, May 17.  The boys qualified the 4x800 and 4x400 relays in addition to previously qualified events.  Brady Brockel won the boys' 400 and 800 meter events.  The 4x800 team took second with a time of 8:36.9 and consisted of David Paul, Brady Brockel, Jaden Brockel, and DJ Beckwith.  The 4x400 team finished first with a time of 3:36.8.  Unit members were Beckwith, Nolan Hamilton, Soo Jae Lee, and Brady Brockel.  Tricia Wilken picked up a third in the girls' 300 hurdles and Renee Seaman finished third in the 3200 run and fourth in the 1600 run.  Information for the state track meet will be coming soon.

Kadoka Invitational Schedule and Setup

The link will take you to the lineup and event schedule for the boys' and girls' teams for Saturday's meet in Kadoka.  Please note that the schedule calls for field events and early running events to start at 10:00 AM (that is Mountain Standard Time).  There may be discussion at the coaches' meeting regarding the starting time, but at this time the assumption is that the events will start as shown on the schedule.

The SBA track teams competed at the 281 Conference meet in Huron on Tuesday, May 7.  Weather was conducive to some good performances with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70 degree range.  The boys finished 4th of 8 teams, scoring 96 points.  The girls finished 7th with 54 points.  Brady Brockel was named Carr Clinic MVP athlete for the boys.  He was on the winning 4x200 and 4x400 units as well as a winner in the 400 meter dash with a new conference record of 50.9.  He also placed second in the 800 meter run.  Members of the winning 4x200 team were Chibueze Egeruoh, Nolan Hamilton, DJ Beckwith, and Brockel.  The 4x400 unit consisted of Hamilton, Beckwith, Egeruoh, and Brockel.  Meet results are linked below.  Note that the team results are listed at the end of the events placing lists.

Jimmy Rearick Invitational Results

The SBA track teams competed at the Jimmy Rearick Invitational in Miller on Tuesday, April 30.  Wolsey-Wessington puts on this meet each year in memory of a young man from Wolsey who, several years ago, lost his battle with cancer.  The boys finished with two wins on the day.  Brady Brockel qualified for the state track meet in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.7.  The 4x400 unit that included Nolan Hamilton, DJ Beckwith, David Paul, and Brockel also was victorious with a time of 3:42.4.  For the girls, Renee Seaman finished second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:16.5.  Complete results can be seen by hitting the link below.
